This Saturday was cold, windy, cloudy and lonely. Lots' of pavement. No traffic! as in foot or bike traffic. Close to my home in east Independence, these suburban trails are easy to access and spend whatever amount of time you want on them. 
Little Blue Parkway has an asphalt path from I-70 to 24 Hiway!Jackson Drive has one from 23rd Street to LBP.
The Little Blue Trace goes 14. miles from Lee's Summit Road to the Missouri River.
And a nice little neighborhood street is Castle Drive off Jackson.
